At Goodnews Placements, we want our potential candidates to receive accurate and helpful information to help them pursuing a career in healthcare. We have therefore handpicked most frequently asked questions from candidates.
We specialize in recruiting a wide range of healthcare professionals including nurses, doctors, allied health professionals and administrative staff to meet the diverse needs of healthcare organizations.
To be eligible for a job in the UK, clinicians need IELTS level 7.5 or OET level B English Language scores. It is essential to possess or be eligible to obtain registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
There are two options available to candidates looking to work as doctors in the UK.
To apply for GMC registration, both your primary and postgraduate medical qualifications must be verified by the Electric Portfolio of International Credentials (EPIC).
While not essential, having professional memberships (e.g., MRCEM, FCEM, MRCS, MRCP) is advantageous in the registration process.
If you are an experienced Doctor at Consultant or Middle Grade, looking to work and relocate to the UK, we’d like to hear from you.
NMC most commonly referred to as the Nursing and Midwifery Council is the regulatory body for nurses and midwives in the United Kingdom. It sets standards for their education, training, and practice to ensure safe and effective cars. It establishes and enforces standards to safeguard the health and well-being of the public. One of the main objectives of the NMC is to raise the caliber of nursing and midwifery care. This is achieved by setting and maintaining high standards for education, training, and practice within the professions. The NMC is responsible for defining the criteria that individuals engaged in nursing and midwifery must meet. This includes requirements for skills, qualifications, and ongoing professional development.
The CBT, or Computer-Based Test, is a component of the registration process for healthcare professionals, including nurses, with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in the United Kingdom.
The CBT assesses the theoretical knowledge and understanding of nursing candidates, ensuring they have the necessary foundation for safe and effective practice in the UK. It is a computer-based exam, allowing candidates to answer questions on a computer rather than using traditional pen-and-paper methods.
Questions in the CBT can be in various formats, including multiple-choice questions (MCQs), drag-and-drop, and other interactive formats. The aim is to evaluate the candidate’s understanding and application of nursing principles.
After successfully completing the CBT, candidates can progress to the next stages of the registration process, including the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for practical skills assessment in the UK.
The Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) is designed to assess your clinical knowledge. Importantly, this exam can only be completed in the UK. The OSCE will be administered by one of the NMC’s approved university test centers, ensuring standardized and regulated assessment.
Our affiliated hospitals are dedicated to your success. They will provide comprehensive training for the OSCE, and the associated costs will be covered, alleviating financial concerns for candidates.

This approach allows you to focus on your professional transition and ensures a smoother adjustment for both you and your family when they join you later.
